The amount of sand bass fishing techniques available today are amazing. The great Florida lakes, crystal clear and sparkling clean, have been the source for these sand-loving bass. The key to catching sand bass in a lake such as the one described above, is bait presentation. In reality, bait presentation is one of the most important aspects for any fishing adventure. The bass love to reside in the lakes sandy bottom areas and leave their nest to forage all throughout the lake. Make no mistake about it, these varieties of bass are completely different from their largemouth cousins and thus have a different technique of fishing for them. The sandy bass prefers the non ambush approach to feeding. It likes the bait, usually a smaller fish, to come swimming by at a rather rapid pace and then it will give chase and hopefully catch the prey item. The bass will forage, all throughout the daylight hours, and then when the night comes will retire back into their nesting area.

A very simple approach to catching these bass is to use a mid running plug or a fast retrieved sinking lure. the fish has a natural reaction to the speed of the moving lure and will be totally fooled if it looks like their main usual bait fish. The bait fish that inhabit these lakes are usually shiners and shad. the bass will not pass up anything that can fit in its mouth and this includes crayfish, insect, and small birds. Any lure that emulates these types of animals and insects will have the ability to catch a sand bass. The average size of the fish is three pounds and can grow as large as a standard largemouth, of which it is closely related. there is one lure that really works well on the sand bass and that is the Rapala Broken-Back Minnow. the lure is a prime source of hooking bass and will be the go-to lure in your entire bass tackle box. Trust me. this lure is very deadly for all types of bass and can be used time and time again. Beautiful. It is perfect in it’s simplicity. Sleek, streamlined, a virtual perfect bait. The lure is knotted onto the end of the line and tested with that usual and customary fisherman’s tug. Tossed into the deepest part of the lake the bass fisherman awaits the tell-tale pull back of a deep water strike.

The day of fishing on the lake for the sand bass is one that everyone in the family can enjoy. The wife and the kids can frolick on the beachy area and leave you alone. Is that not what is desired when the entire family is brought to your fishing honey-hole? Of course it is. Now go out to that beautiful, pristine lake and fear not that you are not without your buddies in the marsh ponds. The sand bass will provide you with a day of fun and maybe even a surprise or two.

There are many professional bass fishing tactics that anglers are using to produce largemouth bass. It is a great time to be a largemouth bass fisherman. The wealth of knowledge once inaccessible to many is now wide open thanks to the internet. This may seem like old hat by the time this article hits the logs of the world, yet it is necessary to be told. The world of the successful bass fisherman was held close to the breast. Hidden. Now thanks to the power of mass media the word is out.

Have you ever imagined catching giant huge and enormous largemouth bass? Well, the time is ripe for you to become a member of the ten pound club. An exclusive and members only fraternity created for the sole purpose of celebrating the unprecedented feat of landing a ten pound largemouth bass. The sole dream of many bass fisherman, Camelot of the bass fishing world. Heaven on the water. The professional bass fisherman has all the tools. The pros can predict the basses every move, where they’re going to be, when they’re going to be there, how long they are going to be there. Simply astonishing. How do they do it? Obviously years of experience have benefitted these anglers but how did they get to understand the movements of the bass so well, so instinctively? Luck? Thats what some of the bad people think but that could not be true, not every single time they set foot in a boat, not every time. The bass pros understand one thing and this one thing is what makes them so different from the rest of the bass fishing anglers. Experience pays off big time.

The professionals do not waste time on the small stuff. Instead they concentrate on the bigger picture, catching the biggest bass around. They skip the lesser haunts of the majority of the bass population in a lake, they go straight for the lair of the lunker bass. Only here can the bass pro separate themselves from the crowd. Only here can they hook into the giant largemouth bass. Here they go again, producing the biggest best bass in a lake full of anglers, using the same type of bait, the same rod and reel. Whats the trick? There is no trick, no slight of hand here. They have just practiced their trade and done well enough times that they made a name for themselves. You can do the same thing.

This is the new age of the pro bass fisherman and now you have the chance to stand in the winner’s circle. Grab a couple great bass books and get out there. The only way to see if you have the right stuff is to go fishing, all the time. The pros will tell you that they are constantly either fishing or talking about fishing, they never stop and they never let up. It is the secret they have that carries them to bass fishing greatness. Their passion, their love is bass fishing. Do you love bass fishing? You better.

Fishing for largemouth bass requires skill. Once the bait has entered the water, you must determine what retrieval technique that will trigger the big strikes. Do not be surprised when the massive fish crushes the bait on the initial drop. Since we do not live in a fairy tale, this is not always going to be the case. Depending on the mood of the fish, they may want the bait hopped along the bottom, vertical jigged over branches, swam at various depths or simply motionless. You never really know what the bass desires but it is fun to experiment to find that golden combination of skill and luck so that the largemouth strikes like lightening. After I tossed the lure in the dark twisted waterway, I await the strike.

I feel a bump, not a nibble for this is not cat fishing or blue fishing with live bait, this is largemouth bass fishing as its best. The pull. The hook is set and the fight is on. This is a typical fishing outing for me and maybe for you as well? If it is not then you need to alter the fishing plan and start getting back into the catching mode not just the fishing mode.

The fight is another reason I love to fish. I love it, the pull of the bass as he or she fights for their life. The bass has no idea that we anglers are so much more conservationist than in the not too distance past. The chances of a bass surviving once I have hooked it and fought it and landed it are 100%. Thats great odds for any fish. The fish has fought gallantly and I have fought the bass good as well. I start the cranking in of the reclaimed line that the bass had stripped about thirty feet from and am winning the fight.

Fishing for largemouth bass can be great for youngsters as well. Take your child fishing and do not expect to catch anything. This way if he does catch something the credit can be all his. An ego builder indeed. Great as a carry over in school with the new found confidence, he can do anything. Catching the largemouth bass in this way can lead to a better trophy fishing trip in the not too distant future. The overall feeling one gets when fishing the ponds and lakes and even rivers of the world is unity. When a fish is heaved up on the land and the fight is over. The best place to catch a bass is a quiet location away from the huddled masses of crowds and has plenty of golden quietness. This is one of the most important things during fishing, that the sound, any sound, be absent. Ever tried to fish in freshwater with a loud partner or a car full of kids in the parking lot? It makes one desire to leave because you know that whatever bass was here has been chased away by the rock and roll.

The bass fishing tackle world has shifted dramatically from live baits to artifical lures in the past ten years. This is especially true in the wealthy realm of the largemouth bass fisherman. If a poll was taken in the United States and a group of 100 bass fishermen from Florida to California were asked to raise their hands if they use artificial lures 100% of the time presently to bass fish, 75 hands would go up. The trend has a few factors as to the shifting of ideas and beliefs. Environmental reasons abound such as not depleting the supply of live bait or maybe there is the repetitive cost factor. Fishermen are more apt to pay 12.00 for a new Rapala than to pay 10.00 each trip out for a bucketful of wild Florida shiners. Every time especially during the hard economically challenging times we fish in today. The live bait is just old hat and too messy, expensive and down-right second to the speed factor of catching bass with artificial bait.

Artificial baits when used for the bass fishing sector is cleaner, more available and never die on the line. The artificial that is a relied upon success can be counted on in almost every application as a live bait would. Once the fisherman has a hit on an artificial, it is next to death for the live baits. What would be the pros for keeping a stinky bait bucket in the garage of your mother in laws house? Sure it gets cleaned out every time, sure mine too. The inside is cleaned with a non-toxic bleach cleaner as to not kill the bait once it is time to refill the bucket and go bass fishing.

The cost, the time that it takes to collect the live bait and then house them too? Keep them alive? Sounds too much like my ex-wife and children but that’s a different story and one that is not fit for the seriousness of the subject of bass fishing. Wrong time, wrong place. The artificial come in so many shapes and sizes that they are now a replica of every available bait source that the largemouth bass would desire. The lures come shaped like shiners, shad, bream and even the highly prized finger mullet . Yes, there is a lure for every application imaginable. The bass fishing a little slow on this early April morning? Need to pick up the pace and hook a few before taking it to the house? Toss that dead shiner that was hung to death on the end of the line and presently is being eyed by that fat-catfish on the bottom of the retention pond. As the corpse of the valiant but doomed shiner is removed and read the last rites before a burial at sea, err, lake, look at the shiny impairment device the hook. Say adios to the shiny piece of tackle it is 100 % artificial time. The bass are not a highly intelligent species and will hit anything that looks like the old live bait. Go artificial the next time Little Billy wants to go down to the pond and try to catch a few bass the new way, artificially. The shiner population says thank you! Bubble Bubble!

In a few words, this article on how to bass fish could be called how to choose the right bait. While it is definitely correct that largemouth bass do not always follow the rules when it comes to baits chosen, it is also true that most of the time they do. If you are an avid fisherman, you will always hear match the hatch. All this fancy-talk means is that you should choose the color and shape of the bait the bass are currently feeding on.

Sometimes this is difficult if not impossible to pull off. Sure there are fishing forecast in every state but sometimes the time it takes to grab those priceless caveats of information can be frustratingly painful. Let me explain. If the bass are feeding on shiners use a lure the same color, or if it is perch or sunfish, tie on something of the same fashion. It will pay off in the end as the bass will either bite strongly or not at all. If the not at all option is selected then you would have tried another color or shape and this conversation would be null and void. Many bass anglers say that you should use darker lures in low light conditions and brighter when the sun is shining high. I highly agree and have used this theory many times for fantastic results. If the lake is clear use a brighter or shinier lures vs. darker ones for stained or muddy water. This rule of thumb most always holds true but not 100 percent of the time.

So remember that darker colors in darker water and lighter lures in clear and sunny weather does not always hold true. You must experiment if the bass are not hitting. Try something new; it might be a great surprise. The gold coloring of the Florida wild shiner can be easily matched with over a thousand lures that you and I would have a hard time telling the difference of under water. This is an essential part of learning the correct way of bass fishing. It is important that the bass angler at least has the option for choosing the color and shape he wants to use. Do not allow a big-mouthed friend or even worse, a freelance fishing writer (eek) try to convince you that it is his way or the highway. Thats just not true. It is your way or the highway. Go fishing and prove all those “hater’s” wrong about the quality of you’re fishing prowess. Shut them up with a stringer full of wonderful largemouth bass and do not offer them a single fish.

The color and shape of the lure is ultra important and it is really just a common sense issue. The bass want what they are accustomed to feeding on, plain and simple. If something comes there way that is exactly the opposite of what they are feeding on, normally this will show itself very early in the fishing day.

Hankering for a guide on how to catch largemouth bass? The quest has ended. This will be you’re final stop for the best method of catching largemouth bass in the world today. This will help you whenever you go and try to land a big lunker bass the next time you venture out and get wet. The items needed for a very productive (hopefully) bass fishing trip include but are in no way limited to the essential customary ones found in most every encounter. The rod and reel should be the best one in the bunch for it will be tested and bent double if the fish are of decent size. And thats the primary goal, yes? The open faced spin- caster is a good choice since it combines the flexibility of a spinner with the durability of a normal conventional reel.

The line “test” should be around 10-12 pounds, this will allow for you to not have the line seen by the bass and be able to withstand the pulls and strong legendary runs of the big lunker bass. Being able to horse the fish from around cypress stumps and rocky out-cropping, will be mandatory of the line. Choose this wisely unless a heart break is what you are fishing for. The largemouth bass is a strong fighter and will not hesitate to break off a cheaper less expensive garden variety fishing line. Stren is name that has served me well for over 25 years of bass fishing. Spend the extra five dollars and get the good stuff. What will happen is that you will be able to reuse the line that is spooled onto your reel a few times after the first trip. This alone will pay for itself, so just buy a name brand. We used to call the cheap breaking frequently “Jet line”.

With the rod and reel secured and the good strong line on the pole, it is time to look into the tackle box to see what can be salvaged and what must be bought. A good starter tackle box includes; set of lures, hooks and weights, plus any other required item for bass fishing. We all have a kind of six sense on what should be included in a bass anglers tackle box. It is best left to the individuals wants and needs and the size of the box itself. The traditional set of hooks and weights should always be stocked. Everything else can be left to ones own imagination and creature comfort level.

The remaining essential tools that are required are really up to the bass fisherman. Knives, lighters, wet proof matches, pin lights, and batteries. The list is endless if the money allows for that type of fishing experience. If you are on a budget, like all of us, then most of these items can be picked up later. The goal is to catch a largemouth bass and not really have to carry your entire gamefish products. Getting away means leaving most of the stuff that reminds you of not being on a bank fishing.

The bass fishing basics are very basic indeed. The stripped down version would consist of a rod and reel fully lined, a hook. That’s it. If an angler wanted to go fish for a largemouth bass that is all he would ever need. Sure that is rather Spartan and the burning question is where the bait is? There is live bait everywhere that a bass will strike when impaled on a hook. The chances are better that a bass will strike a struggling grasshopper on the surface or slowly kicking to the bottom than hit a flashy lure. The odds that the bass will liken the grass hopper are at least ten to one, at least. Live bait beats any other bait and this is because real versus fake is the fastest way to a largemouth’s, mouth.

A great live bait will be choice in the hunt for a decent sized bass. The bass that are in the body of water where you are fishing, feed exclusively on the fish and insect life that are present there. Occasionally the largemouth bass will eat small invertebrates and even very small birds if they get them into their gaping mouths. A bass will not turn its big mouth away from anything basically that it can fit into that famous mouth. The next time you have the fantastic opportunity city to catch and land a largemouth bass take the time to examine the catch. Notice that the body in proportion to its head and mouth is relatively small. The mouth is the highlight of the entire fish making up to 50 % of the total body mass of the largemouth bass. Upon inspection, the mouth is huge with separated small teeth that can grip the fish and other prey that the bass had the chance to put in its gaping mouth. The bass has no external organs that are visible but only a huge mouth that leads directly to its gullet. A simple evolutionary triumph that has this fish tops in anyones big mouth list.

The bass can be caught in every southern state in the United States. The warmer the weather the better the production of bass. Even the far western states have been stocked with bass fingerings and now that crop of gamefish is growing and multiplying exponentially. Arizona recently released their third batch of Georgian bass and anglers are already reporting huge catches of the largemouth species. The future of the largemouth bass looks promising and this is due to the tireless efforts of the Game and Fish Departments of the respective states.
A new bass fishing technique that should be tried is one that incorporates the Suwanee bass. Hailing from the great state of Georgia, the Suwanee River Bass is named for the location in which it is found. This is the only place in the world where you can hang into a bull-dog of a fish, the Suwanee bass. A distant cousin of the largemouth bass, the fish is found in the Suwanee river system of northern Florida and southern Georgia. This fish is special and the people of the Suwanee know this and will fight to protect their native fish. Think of this territorial vengeance as what the Irish feel about their auburn setters or the Mexicans and their Taco-Bell dogs. Downright nasty if you cross them. The fish will eat just about the same things that the largemouth will but with one variation, the bait must live in the Suwanee river.

The best way to catch a Suwanee bass is to use a top water plug as these fish love to strike high and run deep. Hold on as you hook into one of these prize-fighters. The Suwanee River is a wonderful water way full of Suwanee’s and largemouth as well. A great tactic for catching a Suwanee is to use a tube jig or even a live bait. The bait can be a shiner or shad but should be a bit smaller than the usual variety offered to the largemouth. the difference is the size of the bass that is locked into the river. the Suwanee bass is a smaller variety but it is pound for pound one of the best fighting fish this side of the Mississippi or the Suwanee. Top water plugs are great and very effective for the shallow running Suwanee bass so be careful of any overhanging tree branches are logs that love to snag those expensive lures.

One of the favorite times of the year to catch a bunch of Suwanee bass will raise a few eyebrows indeed: the winter. The fishermen appreciate the colder months of the season since the bass in the river get their bite on. It reminds one of a day of black crappie fishing in the foothills of South Carolina and is a great time to fish. The bass in the river are happy to gulp down a shiny nice lure any time of the year and the winter is just as good as any. The size of a Suwanee bass although a bit smaller in the winter still adds up to a great fighting fish. Winter is one of the best times to go fishing for Suwanee bass since the entire river system is a bit different than most in the United States. Head out to the river system of The Suwanee and start catching the big ones. The trip is going to be fantastic as the natural beauty of Georgia is hard to beat.

There are methods for catching bass, then there are the best largemouth bass fishing tips around, this is one of those articles. Tried and true and experimented with to near exhaustion in the Florida sunshine, these bass tips should help any angler in catching bass. The first tip presented will be in the area of location. Essential to a successful fishing trip, the spot selected will be the most important aspect of any bass fishing venture. Focusing on the world there are certain countries that have a fantastic bass fishing infrastructure.

The usual suspects are; America, all the Latin American countries, Mexico, and Japan. Yes, Japan. Japan recently had a fisherman catch a potential world record bass, the previous title being held for almost 75 years by an angler in the 30′s in America. The Japanese import everything and the species of bass they favor is the largemouth. The lakes of Japan are stocked with bass finger-lings yearly so that the industry is alive and well. That’s great for the far eastern bass angler looking to catch a little sushi while in Tokyo. The location focus now shifts to the wild, wild west.

The eastern United States is the area best known for producing a great catch of largemouth bass. We can zero in on the country and highlight the Southeastern region consisting of the states; Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Of these southern states the location best suited for excellent largemouth bass fishing is Florida. There is no other place in the world that can compare to the abundant, healthy bass that can be found here in the “Sunshine State.” A combination of abundant lakes and waterways in which the bass can live breed and hunt, and a wonderful hatchery program makes Florida the “Capital of Bass Fishing in the world”.

Let’s recap for this bass fishing tip posting. We have traveled the world attempting to pin-point the best place to locate a healthy bass population and the journey has brought us to the gates of Disney World. The fabulous tourist destination is the gateway to the best bass fishing in the state. The amounts of large, clean freshwater lakes that dot the area are impressive to say the least.

Any lake, in the Orange county area, will have the largemouth as its top predator fish species. The jewel of the area is the biggest lake in the United States, Lake Okeechobee. The lake is a giant. If looked at on a map of Florida it will take up a good area of the interior of the sunshine state. The bio-diversity of the famous lake is unmatched in Florida. Only the swampy area of The Everglades can match the amount of bass held in this body of water. Getting there has many viable cost-effective options and a quick Google search for Bass in Orlando should do the trick.

Bring lots of sun screen and a few dollars (no one said it was going to be cheap) when embarking upon a trip to “The Bass Capital of the World”. There will be plenty of hotels and motels in which to park youself and unload the family, a pool is a great way to slip off and investigate the bass fishing in Orlando. Take some time to get to know Florida and it’s rich largemouth bass fishing.

Smallmouth bass fishing techniques must include persistence as the smallmouth bass are one of a kind, the lesser known little brother of the gigantic largemouth bass. The smallmouth gets its name from the size of its mouth. Now this is not to say that the mouth is incredibly smaller in proportion to its body mass, just that the largemouth has that name covered. The smallmouth has a range of about three-quarters of The United States and most likely will be found in flowing rivers and still lakes. The bass can be anywhere there is enough water for it to swim and mate and eat. There is a giant population of smallmouth as they are one of the most successful game fish of the country.

One of the states that have a lesser population of smallmouth is Florida. The smallmouth may venture as far a northern Georgia and even can be found in certain locations of southern Georgia but this is rare. What is the reason for this? The heat. The bass like milder weather and warm water but not as warm as their larger brothers down south. This is certainly a survivorship tool as the largemouth most certainly would not get along with the smaller less mouthy cousin.

The smallmouth hit just about anything that a largemouth would except that the northern variety prefers a lighter menu. Crayfish and worms make up a big portion of their diet and these are just not so plentiful in the south as the north. The smallmouth makes up for its name and size when it is hooked and knows it. The fish is revered for its ability to launch and aerial assault that is sure to please even the most die-hard largemouth fisherman.

The smallmouth can be hooked on live bait or a variety of artificial lures. A great tactic is to use rattle trap artificial or a deep diving bottom bumping rubber worm. The color and weight of the presentation is indicative to where the fisherman is casting into. A big clear lake will call for a darker colored more obvious worm while the darker more sinister waters of a marsh or bog needs a lighter color. The contrast is the important reason behind the color variation and this is the number one theory of smallmouth bass fisherman everywhere.

The largest smallmouth bass on record was caught in the great state of Tennessee by a man named D.L. Hayes. The massive fish weighed in at a staggering 11 pounds 15 ounces! That’s amazing seeing that the average specimen is around three pounds and that’s being kind. The smallmouth that grew that big must have eaten everything in the lake. That’s a big smallmouth. The average smallmouth pales in comparison to this as is the case in any world record. The rarity of this catch is that the smallmouth was caught in a river stream in the foothills of a mountain. The home of the usual trout-family related species. Out of place and oversized, strange.
